- De Vos began his career in 1990 with his hometown club the London Lasers in the former Canadian Soccer League (CSL). When the club folded he joined the Kitchener Kickers, also of the CSL. When the latter club also folded he re-joined the re-established Lasers in 1992, the last year of operations for the CSL. He spent the next few years playing for Montreal Impact in then American Professional Soccer league. He also spent time on loan at Darlington in 1996 before make the switch permanent in 1998. Went on to play for Dundee United of the Scottish Premier League in October on a £400,000 transfer.
