Biography: Joined Darlington on loan from Carlisle United during in February 2025. Hetherington had been been at Carlisle for several years, and worked his way through the youth system. He played three times for the first team in the EFL Trophy and earlier during the 2024/25 season had played for Workington on loan in the NPL Premier Division. Played 16 games for Darlington during his loan spell for Darlington. His loan spell ended with his signing a new deal with Carlisle United. However he didn't get a chance to establish himself in their first team. Ahead of the 2026/27 season he joined Darlington on a permeant basis.
