- Craig Hignett started his career at Crewe in 1988. After making 150 appearances for them he moved to Middlesbrough in 1992. He played over 150 games for the Teessiders and played in their FA Cup and League Cup finals during the 1996/97 season. He was also the first player to score at the Riverside Stadium. He left Boro in 1998 and played for Aberdeen, Barnsley, Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City. He had a brief spell with Leeds United before he joined Darlington early in the 2004/05 season. He scored on his debut. Played only one season for Darlington before moving on in the summer of 2005.
