- Scunthorpe born Ridley started his career with his home town club. He would eventually go on to make over 100 appearances for the Iron between 2000 and 2007. Despite being offered a new 2-year contract by Scunthorpe after their promotion to the Championship in 2007, he opted to stay in League One. He joined Cheltenham Town signing a three-year deal at Whaddon Road. On 22 November 2007 he joined Darlington on a one-month loan deal.
