- Biography
- Signed for Darlington in October 2016. Released by League One side Rochdale at the end of the 2015/16 season he spent pre-season with Guiseley while hoping for a return to the football league. Prior to this Syers had spells with Ossett Albion, Farsley Celtic and Harrogate Town before signing for Bradford City in 2010. He played 55 games for the Bantams and scored 10 goals. In 2012 he switched to Doncaster Rovers where he made 34 appearances for Rovers. One of his games was the infamous match on the final day of the 2012/13 season when Doncaster won the League One title by beating promotion rivals Brentford 1-0 with an injury-time goal scored by ex-Quaker James Coppinger. He then moved on to Scunthorpe United in January 2014, a month later scoring a hat-trick against Portsmouth, but an injury sustained 11 minutes into the 2014/15 season ruled him out for almost the entirety of the season. Syers joined Rochdale in January 2016 where he stayed until the end of the 2015/16 season, making six league appearances.
