- Started this career at Darlington on a YTS contract in 2005 and impressed enough to earn a professional deal with the club. Despite figuring regularly at junior and reserve level he made only a handful of appearances for the first team. Briefly joined Harrogate Town on loan before sealing a permanent move to Blyth Spartans in October 2008. The end of the 2008/09 season saw Reay finish with 12 goals from 27 starts and collecting the young player of the season award. Spells with Shildon, Whitby Town, Jarrow Roofing and Bedlington Terriers followed. Following Darlington's demotion to the Northern League Reay rejoined the club in June 2012 for a brief period.
