Biography
Darlington lad Steven Johnson signed for Darlington ahead of the 2012/13 season and played a major part in the club's Northern League title winning season. As a youngster he was a ball boy at Feethams and attended Eastbourne School and played for Darlington 21st Allstars. He went on to play in the Northern League and after turning 30 was getting ready to quit football after leaving West Auckland. However in the summer of 2012 he was offered a trial with Quakers. Johnson appeared in a pre-season friendly at Glasshoughton Welfare and scored a hat-trick. It was enough for manager Martin Gray to offer the forward a deal. Steven went on to score 15 goals for the club as they romped to the Northern League title. However the following season in December 2013 the popular forward called time on his Darlington career. With work becoming too much he took the difficult decision to end his time with the club.
