Biography

Born in Middlesbrough, Hutchinson signed a professional contract with Birmingham City in July 2000, having been a trainee in the club's youth system. He was a member of the first-team squad for the 2000/01 season. After Birmingham were promoted to the Premier League Hutchinson made his first appearance in the competition, starting in a defeat to Leeds United. Joined Darlington in 2003 in search of regular first team football. Struggled somewhat with injuries during his time with the club and missed much of the 2005/06 season with cruciate knee ligament damage. Hutchinson returned from two separate cruciate ligament injuries in June 2006. Hutchinson was released by Darlington in February 2007 due to recurring injury problems.
