- Striker Luke Charman was Quakers' first signing in the summer of 2020 as Darlington prepared for the 2020/21 season. Charman was a regular in Newcastle’s Under 23 side, and scored 30 goals in 81 games for them during that period, but never broke into the first team. He also had a brief loan spell with Accrington Stanley in 2018, and played three times for Newcastle Under 21s in the Football League Trophy before being released. Joined Darlington for the 2020/21 campaign and scored six times (all in cup competitions) before the season was eventually curtailed because of Covid-19. The following season was even better for Charman. He was a regular on the scoresheet for Darlington in the first half of the 2021/22 season and eventually he transferred in January 2022 to Rochdale after they made a bid for him.
