Biography
Tommy Wright started his playing career at Leicester City. Made appearances during the Foxes 2002/03 promotion campaign from then Divison One. Ahead of the following season Wright was named as a player to watch. Despite this he failed to break into the Leicester side. He had spells at Brentford and Blackpool before he joined Barnsley permanently in January 2006 for around £50,000. Tommy made 22 appearances for Barnsley as they won promotion. With the club now in the championship (Diviosn One) Wright was used mainly from the bench. Eventually Wright signed with Dave Penney's Darlington in January 2007. Became a fan favourite thanks to his combative approach. In August 2008 however Quakers accepted a sizeable transfer bid from Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen and Wright moved on. He came back as a player ahead of the 2010/11 season and was part of the side which made the FA Trophy final. Tommy returned to the club as manager in 2017 however he and the club went their separate ways following the the conclusion of the 2018/19 season.
