Biography
Released by Newcastle United at age 11, Burn played youth football for local teams New Hartley, Blyth Town and Blyth Spartans. At age 16, he began working for a supermarket when a scout for Darlington saw him playing for Blyth Spartans and he signed on professional terms on in July 2009. Burn then made his away league debut coming on as a 19th-minute substitute for injured defender Mark Bower against Torquay United on 12 December 2009. Made a handful of appearances during the 2009/10 season as the club was relegated from the football league. Made more appearances during the 2010/11 season under manager Mark Cooper. Impressed in the games he played and ended the season behind Jamie Chandler as the club's Young Player of the Season. Burn's performances attracted interests from Premier League clubs and he eventually moved to Fulham in April 2011. The club agreed a transfer fee which would prove extremely useful a few years later then club received some much needed payments due to clauses in the deal.
