Biography

Pickford joined Sunderland's Academy at the age of eight and progressed through the age groups before signing two-year scholarship terms in 2010. The following year, he was promoted from the Academy to the reserve team. Joined Darlington on loan in January 2012 and ended up playing in most of the club's remaining Blue Square Premier games. Despite the club's relegation at the end of the 2011/12 season Pickford impressed. He had several loan spells at other clubs before eventually getting a chance in the Sunderland first team in January 2016. Would eventually join Everton for over £25 million.
