- Halifax born Chris Atkinson started his career at Huddersfield Town after joining the club's academy. He was a key player in the youth and reserve teams during the 2009/10 season before making the step up to the first team the following season. In July 2011 he signed a six month loan deal with Darlington. Played 15 games for the club during the troubled 2011/12 campaign which saw the club battle financial problems.
