Biography
Stephen Thompson signed for the club early in the 2012/13 Northern League season from Durham City, a man who was tipped as one of the stand-out players in the Northern League. He started his career at Middlesbrough, before gaining Football League experience as he joined Port Vale. He scored twice for Vale in the league, however, he dropped down to play for Telford United in the Conference. Instantly a hit with the fans at Darlington, Thompson showed why the club had been so keen to bring him in, as he immediately hit the goal trail. A player who can play up-front or in midfield, he has spent a lot of his time at the club operating from the wing or behind the main strikers. Thompson played a huge part in the promotion from the Northern League scoring some spectacular long strikes along the way. He proved he could play a level up following promotion, as Thommo went on to be crowned the Evo-Stik supporters player of the season in 2013/14.
